Tourism Arrivals - Jul 2018
During the month of July, some of our main markets chose to hibernate in their respective countries rather than experiencing the cold winter in Mauritius. Tourist Arrivals from UK drooped by 2.1% during the month with that from France following the declining trend (- 1%). On the other hand, the country has benefitted from a significant 24% rise in German tourists’ arrivals, explained by the 0.68% appreciation of the Euro vis-à-vis the Rs for the month.
On the other side of the Globe, Chinese people preferred the warmth of their place, denoted by an 11.2% decline in tourist arrivals from that market. However, our island remained favoured by Indians (+13%).
South Africa also performed negatively with a drop of 6.2% compared to the same period last year followed by a 6% fall for Reunion Island.
Overall, tourist arrivals has increased by 3.1% in July compared to the same period last year.
